Natural light photo of this beautiful newborn taken during an in-home session. Moments captured like this is why I love being a family photographer.
Another in-home session. When I see light dancing on the walls you can be sure I will capture it. Photographs like this of our homes will bring us right back to our childhood years from now.
In-home sessions bring the most authentic captures. Children are relaxed and completely themselves in the comfort of their own homes.
Sometimes little ones need a break from having their photos taken. I am happy to oblige…in a way. I think the in-between moments are often the most beautiful and I’ll be sure to have my camera ready to capture them.
This little guy had a blast with me. We played with his trucks and I asked him to run to me. Over and over again. Action shots are possible even in an in-home photo session.
Look out for quiet moments filled with beautiful light and have your camera (or even your iPhone) at the ready.
After we had all the posed images in the can, I had a little fun with this beauty on my way out the door. My favorite image from the session without a doubt.
When my son was a newborn I remember my best friend holding him for the first time and breathing in his scent deeply. She said he was so “fresh”. I knew exactly what she meant. Doesn’t every mother?
I’m lucky - because of my camera I had access to so many moments in my boy’s childhoods. Some of our favorite photos are those with all the friends represented. I’ve longed to make friendship sessions a thing. Maybe there’s still time?
I never want to forget the incredible softness of my baby’s silky hair. The dimples on the back of my toddler’s hand or the adorable belly peeking out of a t-shirt already too small. Every family session I make it a point to capture not only candid moments and timeless portraits but the details that make your heart swell.
It goes without saying that there is a special bond between kids and their dads, but being a mother I am drawn to the bond between mother and baby. At least once during every family session, I will slow down the pace and make sure we get some snuggle time photos.
One of my favorite things about in-home photo sessions is that it grants me access to some pretty special places. This sweet girl was so excited to introduce me to all her lovies. Fast forward three years, I was thrilled when she brought her favorite one to her studio portrait session.
